Other than the bizarre, barbaric, blood-stained story, what will make your head spin (I mean literally)? It will be RGV’s obsession with the camera, making it somersault in every possible aspect, every passing second.

Director: Ram Gopal Verma
Star Cast: Mahie Gill, Ajay Gehi, Deepak Dobriyal, Zakir Hussain
Real life murder of Neeraj Grover, a TV executive, inspired Ram Gopal Verma to do a movie three years back; it was all set some years ago, but the release of Maria (real murderer) in 2011, made him promote the movie to gain fame in the film industry.
His previous movie, Rakta Charitra was also a real story and it was quite appreciated by reviewers (as he didn’t run his mind to create a new story). Guess, this made him release a new crime thriller movie, Not A Love Story.
Story Track
Mahie Gill plays Anusha (the role of Maria), an aspiring actress, who’s doing rounds of the Bollywood industry. She lands in big, bad Mumbai in her quest to become a famous Bollywood actress.
She gets some offers through Ashish Bhatnagar, who lends her a helping hand and they come close. Moreover, they celebrate Anusha’s success at a posh pub and finally, they indulge in a one night stand in her apartment.

The very next morning, Anusha’s possessive boyfriend lands up to discover that she had spent night with Ashish, and the horror follows next!
Performance
When it comes to performance, Deepak is top notch; his act as a possessive lover is excellent. Mahi is just flawless, delivering a real stunning performance; rest of the members, including Ajay have done equal justice to their roles.

There is nothing really shocking about ‘Not A Love Story’ as it is inspired from real life. The first half of the movie is pretty slow and boring, but movie really begins in the second half. Climax is open-ended, and music isn’t soothing (as you’d expect!)
RGV’s trademark extreme facial close-ups, erratic angles have again redefined the term ‘roller-coaster’ entertainment. At least, I’d definitely say it was better than Ragini MMS, and Murder 2! (well that’s a personal opinion again, but don’t bother wasting your money going to a multiplex with the entire family either!)
Rating: 3/5
