Akshay Kumar plays the role of Jerry, who works as security personnel and John appears in the role of Nick, who works as banker. Both friends have a brilliantly sorted life, until recession hits the job markets all over the world and both of their jobs run into trouble.

Nick turns from a responsible vibe to a person in financial crisis because of his girl-friend Radhika (played by Deepika Padukone. On other side, Veer, the nephew of Jerry is sent to the orphanage due to the trouble faced by Jerry because of financial crisis.

Both Nick and Jerry think to do something about their situation and decide to join as male escorts. Working as male escorts, will they be able to bring Jerry’s nephew back home? Radhika’s reaction to Nick’s reality and the entry of Chitrangada – will be shown in later part of the movie.

Sanjay Dutt’s strong performance as the owner of escort agency is an additional strength of the film.

Music

Foot-tapping music by Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonca, and Shankar Mahadevan, on-screen chemistry between Akshay and Chitrangada, and the comic timing between John and Akki has helped in making this movie a complete package.

Verdict

The movie has got good story and will definitely be a good entertainer for the weekend. Surely, Desi Boys will not disappoint you.

It was originally slated to release in Oct, 2011, but due to some reasons it will be in theater next valentine’s day. It stars Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan; Karan Johar is having high expectations from this film too.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya

The meaning of the title is ‘fallen love with you’ and it’ll be released next February, starring off-screen couple Genelia and Rithesh.

Shanghai

The political thriller starring Emraan Hashmi, Kalki, and Abhal Deol is scheduled for release in January. It is generating good expectations from the story and star line.

Tezz

The action thriller directed by Priyadarshan stars Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, and Kangna Ranaut. It is all about a train hijacking story.

Housefull 2

The second part of the Housefull stars Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, John Abraham, Jacqueline, and Asin. It is the first ultimate comedy movie of 2012.

Kya Super Kool Hai Hum 2

After the hit of Golmaal Series, all filmmakers are investing money on such a comedy sequel. This movie stars Rithesh, Tushar Kapoor, Neha, and Chunky Pandey.

Barfee

Anurag Basu’s romantic murder mystery stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Ileana (the famous Tollywood actress).

Dhoom3

This year’s much awaited action flick is Dhoom3; it stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Aamir Khan in the negative role. It may come in the theater during Christmas Eve or at the least, early 2013.

Story Plot

The sequel stars off almost from where Don ended, but although it attempts to maintain some connection with the last episode, it somehow fails to bring back the intelligence of the original plot; at the same time, I wouldn’t really call it disappointing at all!



Don (SRK) emerges in Malaysia and gets himself arrested only to release convicted Vardhan (Boman Irani) as he has keys to a video footage of a German bank’s vice president and they use the footage to blackmail him so that to get access to bank’s security system. Their main intention is to get the formulaic and old-fashioned currency printing plates from the security system. (no notes the money, but the plates to print as much money as they want – yeah now that’s Don style!)

Roma (Piggy Chops), who has revealed the new face as action heroine throughout the movie joins in the party. The investigators Malik (Om Puri) and his junior Roma are still on his trail and looking at the dumbness that they have and it doesn’t look like they can arrest him even in Don 10. Though she walks around in strictly formal clothes and hairdo, but her role turns out to be of someone who is waiting for an opportunity in the arms of her prince charming.



The action oriented movie, shows one-man army’s skills and how Don escapes from high security prison along with Vardhan and then moves to Germany and there is some conventional car chasing moments in the movie, but it doesn’t excite much until you realize that the first half of the film is over!

The second half of the movie introduces Kunal Kapoor, a hacker, who can not only barge into the bank’s security system, but also has the blueprints of the entire building.



Even the robbery doesn’t add much thrills in particular and without much difficult to decode the mystery, it makes for a decent climax.

The Good and Bad

Farhan Akhtar luckily keeps mush away from the major events though he cannot resist the excitement in the climax in his attempts to induce chemistry between rivals, Don and Roma; their chemistry is peripheral, never turns into romance.



We expect Don to be brainier over brawny hero, but Farhan makes him a jack of all skills, giving him the complete man characteristics, like James Bond.

The director should have worked more on the script, adding more excitement, but I must say that Farhan has done a really good job after all. He could have perhaps come up with innovative technique to get out of a jail, not simply mixing the food with liquid that causes massive food poising though…

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy didn’t come up with their own musical theme and have adopted the same signature song from the original movie (as expected!).

It is not up to the level of Dil Chahta Hai or Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Performance

Don 2 marks Shah Rukh’s wicked, debonair anti-hero roles after enacting similar roles early in his career, like Darr, Baazigar, and Anjaam. The character he depicts is sinful and iniquitous, but attractive at the same time and he lives it up with gusto, and sporting varied looks. Without any doubt, it is his best action flick to date; he has surely made a great come-back in negative character. Shahrukh Khan manages to look super hot and super cool as always.



Piggy Chops enacts the role of an angry and tough lady, while Lara Dutta, as Don’s moll looks glamorous and alluring. She is simply a substitute for Isha Koppikhar and hardly appears in few scenes.

Boman Irani lends the right texture to his character as always, while Om Puri and Kunal Kapoor are plain functional.

Though Don 2 isn’t a classic of all time, it’s definitely a worthy onetime watch (far better than Ra.One lol!).

10. No One Killed Jessica

Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan have proved themselves as good actresses in this film, which had average collections at the box office. This film was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta.



9. Dhobi Ghaat

Dhobi Ghaat stands among one of the successful movies of the year 2011. Directed by Kiran Rao, the star casting in this film included Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra and Aamir khan. This movie was an average hit at the box office. But, it received a great response from the audience.



8. Tanu Weds Manu

Tanu weds Manu, directed by Anand L. Rai, was the biggest surprise hit in this year. The star cast had R. Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles. The response from the audience was great.



7. Delhi Belly

Delhi belly received A-certificate from the central board of film distribution. The star casting was done by Imran khan .This movie was totally an adult-oriented comedy, which was directed by Abhinay Deo. It was highly successful at the box office.



6. Buddah Hoga Terra Baap

Buddah Hoga Terra Baap was directed by the telugu film director Puri Jagannadh.The comedy portion was what attracted the audiences a lot. The lead role was done by Amitabh Bacchan and supporting roles by Soonu Sood, Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj and Sonal Chauhan. This movie was a huge hit at the box office.



5. Yamla Pagla Deewana

Directed by Samir Karnik, the star casting in this movie was done by Dharmendra along with his two sons Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol. This movie had a great opening at the box office in the beginning.

4. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The experiment of Farhan Akhtar has once again been successful, after a big successful hit movie Dil Chahta Hai. The lead roles in this movie are played by Hrithik Roshan, and Abhay Deol.

The story revolves around an adventurous road trip to Spain by three friends. Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin have played the female lead roles. This move is directed by Zoya Akhtar and was a huge success at the box office.



3. Murder 2

Emraan Hashmi was paired with the hot actress Jacqueline Fernandes in this film. This movie is directed by Mohit Suri. The story line deals with a corrupted cop, Emraan Hashmi to catch up with the disappearances of his hookers. This was a big successful movie at the box office.



2. Ready

Ready is the remake of Telugu film, Ready, which was directed by Srinu Vitla. This movie is a mixed bag of comedy and action. The star casting in this movie is done by Salman Khan, Asin, Paresh Rawal and Mahesh Manjirekar. This has been a big hit movie in 2011.



1. Singham

In this movie, Ajay Devgan has played the role of an honest police officer. The female lead role was performed by Kajal Agarwal. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham was a massive hit at the box office.

They both never stop playing pranks on each other and finally it all ends with an amusing startling climax.

There is no doubt about the performance of Chetan or Bhagat, as both look good in their own acting terms. Though with short roles, Arjun & Lisa have made significant contributions as they’re the only serious characters in the movie.

Kangana Ranaut makes a conscious effort to break her tragic and dramatic image, which clearly tells why she is acting predominantly in light-hearted films now.

Govinda & Anil Kapoor in “Deewana Mastana”, Govinda-Salman in “Partner” did the sniping and snarling, did much better than Ajay-Sanjay in Rascals as David Dhavan did things full of rascals with amalgamation confusion and silly script.

On the whole, Rascals is a comedy, madcap, and zany entertainer aimed at the masses; it is outrageous and hilarious from commencement to conclusion, but if I were to put my money on watching it in a multiplex, I’d certainly think twice, and I won’t recommend you to blow off your money on this non-sense either!
